On January 31st, 2005 the Tx-781st
AFJROTC unit (50 cadets) from Holmes/Business
Careers High School visited Houston's NASA Space
Center. Our trip proved to be quite a success story
because the cadets had the opportunity to be exposed
to the wonderful would of "Space" and at the same
time pose and model for the new Aerospace Science
textbooks that will be issued by Air Force JROTC
next year.
A photographer from McGraw-Hill,
the publisher, followed the cadets around in
numerous settings at the Space Center, taking
pictures after pictures for over 4 hours. My cadets
are still beaming with smiles because they will have
the opportunity to be seen in these new textbooks
for the next few years or until AFJROTC have their
next revision of textbooks. They also know they
will be seen by students/cadets at over 800 AFJROTC
units throughout the United States and overseas.
The cadets posed/modeled in their uniforms extremely
well and represented Holmes/Business Careers High
School, our School District and the Air Force in an
exceptional manner.
On behalf of AFJROTC, thank
you..."Aerospace Education Foundation" for your
generous AFJROTC Grant and for helping us to
experience aerospace science education first hand.
The benefit of this field trip can be witnessed in
several cadets that now wish to be
astronauts.
